“500 Art Quilts,” part of Lark Books successful “500″ series, is an inspiring collection of the work of contemporary fiber artists. I am excited to be a part of this group of international artists who use fabric and thread for artistic expression.
“500 Art Quilts” is similar to another gallery book, Masters: Art Quilts, Volume 1, which has been very successful, and deserves a look. (more…)

I am excited that my quilt, entitled “Fish II” was recently selected to appear in 500 Art Quilts, a production of Lark Books, Inc. It will be available in the spring of 2010.

Fish-II-300

My continuing fascination with life beneath the sea inspired this mystical look “under the surface” through the mind’s eye of another.  The sheer fabric mutes the bright colors below to provide a balance between the two worlds represented. The piece was made for the Tactile Expressions 2005 show at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center, Eugene, OR. The piece incorporates many types of fabrics, and a number of embellishments. Cotton background, batting and backing with different fabrics and methods of applying fish and seaweed.  A number of embellishments such as beads and threads were used to add accent.  A sheer poly fabric with faces is free floating over the surface of the quilt.
