Paper or Plastic? Think about it. This is the title of my art quilt for the Tactile Expressions challenge using recycled items.

Each time we go shopping we are given a choice of  paper or plastic bags. The former is biodegradable and latter is not. Each time we choose the plastic, we cast our vote for more oil.

This piece was created for a quilt challenge, and constructed from  “recycled” items found around the house. I wanted to produce a graphic representation of things that are destroying our oceans, including the disastrous  BP oil spill.

For the piece, I used are cotton fabric with fused appliqué. Paint, plastic bags, plastic netting, fishing line and beads are included.
