30,000 Feet Above Somewhere
Flying across the United States, one is easily amazed by the terrain beneath, especially when drifting serenely above the nation’s heartland. From 30,000 feet, the land offers an incredible variety of features – often with the hues and textures of a quilt. There are circles, fence lines, roads and the ever-changing patterns of passing clouds. This piece is an interpretation in cloth of what one might observe high above the earth.
Materials used to construct this piece include hand-dyed fabric, paint, disperse-dying, and stitching. All machine pieced and quilted.
