Fascination with life beneath the sea inspired this mystical look “under the surface” through the mind’s eye of another. The sheer fabric mutes the bright colors below to provide a balance between the two worlds represented.
“Fish II” was shown in the Tactile Expressions 2005 show at the Jacobs Gallery in the Hult Center, Eugene, OR.
The piece incorporates many types of fabrics, and a number of embellishments, such as beads and threads . Cotton background, batting and backing with different fabrics and methods of applying fish and seaweed. A sheer poly fabric with faces is free floating over the surface of the quilt.
